After being in the works for over three years, the movie Martin starring Dhruva Sarja is ready to be released nationwide this week. The film's director AP Arjun, who faced challenges during production, reflects, "This project has been a valuable learning experience for me. Despite setbacks like COVID, I am focused on showcasing our work to audiences on a grand scale." He elaborates on the making of Martin in the following excerpts:
"Martin will keep audiences engaged with its unique storytelling approach. The screenplay unfolds in reverse order, ensuring that each scene leaves viewers anticipating what comes next. This film holds personal significance for me as it marks my directorial debut on a larger platform."
"Originally conceived as a bilingual project in Kannada and Telugu in August 2021, Martin's potential was evident early on. With just 10 to 15 days of filming, we saw the quality of the footage and decided to transform it into a pan-India release. Shifting to a broader audience required us to rethink our narrative and production standards to match the scale of mainstream Bollywood and Telugu films. We adapted the story to resonate with diverse viewers and enhance its visual appeal."
"Martin presents a fresh perspective on Dhruva's career, moving away from his usual romantic roles. Often recognized as the 'Action Prince,' this film will showcase a different side of him, redefining his image in the eyes of the audience."Dear fans, get ready to see him in a whole new light as an action hero in this film. Ravi Varma has choreographed four chase sequences, while Ram Lakshman has choreographed five fights. The film also features international artists Nathan Jonas and Aarash Shah, adding to the thrilling action. This patriotic film revolves around a gangster, with a deliberate effort to change Dhruva's on-screen image by minimizing his dialogue delivery and emphasizing his physical presence and expressions. Director AP Arjun discusses the dynamic of working with established stars versus newcomers in the film industry. Although working with newcomers presents a unique freedom in storytelling, the challenge of reshaping Dhruva's on-screen persona in their collaboration on "Martin" was a rewarding experience. Arjun also touches on the challenge of capturing audience attention in the digital age of social media and online content consumption. After undergoing a screening period of more than 100 days, the film finally made its way to television. This reflected a level of appreciation for the traditional movie-watching setting of a theater. Today, only content-rich films tend to draw audiences to cinema halls. Movies with popular actors may attract viewers to some extent, but if smaller, independent films succeed in theaters, it indicates a positive direction for the film industry.
